TechUP’s motivation lies in addressing a critical and growing gap in the digital literacy and employability of low-skilled and cognitively limited VET students. In an increasingly technology-driven world, digital skills are no longer optional but essential for navigating education, employment, and everyday life. Without targeted intervention, this group risks being left behind, widening the digital divide and limiting opportunities for personal and professional growth. (see IT+ DATA)
The project stems from the need to provide these students with accessible, customized, and practical solutions to overcome their unique challenges. Many low-skilled VET students face obstacles such as a lack of basic digital skills, a lack of confidence in using technology, and difficulties in understanding and applying abstract concepts. These challenges are further compounded by the mismatch between traditional teaching methods and their specific learning needs. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the learning process offers an innovative and highly effective way to bridge these gaps.
AI-based tools provide a personalised and adaptive learning experience that supports each student’s pace and abilities. Virtual assistants and guided tutorials ensure that even students with minimal digital literacy can engage with confidence, while interactive platforms and gamified activities make learning engaging and motivating. Real-time feedback and hands- on simulations connect learning to real-world applications, preparing students for the demands of the modern workforce.
The project also addresses a broader social and economic challenge: the urgent need to equip the workforce with the skills needed for the digital economy. By focusing on AI and digital literacy, the project aligns with EU priorities to improve vocational education and ensure inclusion in digital skills development. The tools, platforms, and methodologies developed by Tech Up can be adapted and applied in different contexts and groups, ensuring a lasting impact beyond the immediate target audience. The results of the project will serve as a model for how AI can be harnessed to address educational inequalities and empower underserved populations.
Tech Up addresses a pressing need with an innovative approach, combining AI-based solutions with practical applications to empower low-skilled students in education and vocational training. By investing in their digital literacy and confidence, the project not only transforms individual lives but also contributes to creating a more inclusive and digitally-skilled society, aligning with local and EU priorities on education, employment, and innovation.
The project responds directly to the needs and objectives of the participating organisations and target groups by offering customised, practical, and innovative solutions to bridge the e-skills gap among low-skilled and cognitively-limited VET learners, aligning with the broader objectives of organisations involved in VET.
