The concrete objectives of the ‘Tech Up-Skilling for a New Workforce: AI, Data, and Digital Competencies for Students ’ (Tech-Up) project focus on providing low-skilled VET students with essential digital competencies, including fundamental and applied knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and data analysis. These objectives are intrinsically linked to the selected priorities of increasing the flexibility of vocational education and training (VET) opportunities and adapting VET to labour market needs.
The first objective is to improve digital literacy and technical skills, ensuring that students acquire the fundamental and applied skills needed to thrive in technology-driven industries. By introducing tools and concepts focused on artificial intelligence and data in an accessible way, the project aims to empower students to engage with emerging technologies, bridging the gap between poor initial skills and the modern demands of the world of work.
The second objective is to make learning opportunities more flexible and accessible. Through the development of intuitive online platforms, the project enables modular and self-directed learning, adapted to individual progress. These platforms offer interactive resources, real simulations, and personalised feedback, ensuring that all students, regardless of their starting point, can benefit from high-quality training.
The third objective is to align vocational education with the demands of the labour market, with an emphasis on skills that are increasingly critical in all sectors. The training modules will focus on practical applications of AI and data analysis, such as problem-solving, predictive modeling, and the ethical use of digital tools. This alignment ensures that students in vocational education and training are not only prepared for current job roles but also adaptable to future technological advances.
Expected outcomes include:
Improved employability of VET students, who will acquire in-demand skills in AI, data analytics, and digital innovation. Increased accessibility and inclusiveness of VET programmes through flexible learning methods and resources adapted to different learning needs.
A stronger link between VET and the needs of industry to ensure that graduates can contribute effectively to their sectors. Development of critical thinking and informed decision-making skills, enabling students to navigate complex technological and professional scenarios.
These objectives directly support the priority of increasing the flexibility of VET opportunities by providing adaptable, learner-centered platforms that remove barriers to participation. They also address the priority of adapting VET to labour market needs by focusing on the most relevant and transformative digital skills, ensuring that learners are well prepared for careers in sectors shaped by artificial intelligence and data technologies. This approach fosters a competent and resilient workforce, capable of driving innovation
